Description
Progress Photograph Number 26 of the William Penn Hotel. The hotel was designed by Janssen and Abbot and the construction engineer was James L. Stuart. The steel framing of the two lowest levels for the lobby are twice as tall as the stories for the rooms. Looking inside the bays, you can see materials that are waiting to be used, like different types of pipes and bricks. The steel frames are stamped with American Bridge Co. It still looks like this photograph was taken from the top of Kaufmann's Department store. And the lights that illuminate the front of the Leader building are also visible. It looks like they are preparing to start the brick masonry; the lower levels are decorated in white stone while the rest of the hotel is brick.
