Description
Progress Photograph Number 3, for the William Penn Hotel. The hotel was designed by Janssen and Abbot and the construction engineer was James L. Stuart. There is a similar photograph in the Historic Pittsburgh database, although the perspective of the photograph is shifted. Its identifier number is 715.131252.CP and the link is: http://digital.library.pitt.edu/islandora/object/pitt:715.131252.CP. The description from the aforementioned photograph says that the image was taken at "Grant Street, Corner of 6th from Oliver." Aside from Eaton Company Undertakers, signs for the Teufel's Café and Bar and Pittsburgh Brewing Co's Beer are in the background. The steeple in the background belongs to the First English Evangelical Church, on Garland Way.
