Description
General view of Greystone Mansion, built by General Thomas Marshall Howe. The mansion was purchased by Sarah Lantz Benedum from the Howe family on December 28, 1910. Sarah’s husband, the oil tycoon Michael Late Benedum, razed Howe’s original Greystone and replaced it with a much hailed 23-room mansion built by A. W. Vantine. This new Greystone was gifted to Chatham College on April 26, 1960 and renamed Benedum Hall. It was sold in 1985 to Greystone Associates.
