Description
The roof gardens, located on top of one of the largest buildings in the H.J. Heinz Company's main plant complex in Pittsburgh’s North Side neighborhood, offered the female employees a place to relax and get some fresh air in the afternoon. These gardens included open-air flower beds (center), a conservatory (left background) that housed ferns and palms, seats, fountains, and awnings.
