Description
Access along the Monongahela River to the Point Bridge and Manchester Bridge at the Point was by way of a wooden ramp that ran from what is now Fort Pitt Boulevard in downtown Pittsburgh. The remains of the wooden ramp as it was being demolished are seen here. The old Manchester Bridge (right) was not demolished until 1970, but new trees had already been planted (right center) as part of the landscaping for the new Pont State Park.
