Description
For years the Fort Pitt Blockhouse, built by Colonel Henry Bouquet in 1764, stood on its original site surrounded by industrial buildings and urban blight. It is shown (left center) almost hidden by warehouses and a freight station, shortly before they were razed to make way for Point State Park. The Blockhouse is preserved today by the Daughters of the American Revolution. It is now part of an historical site and museum visited each year by thousands of tourists and school groups.
