Description
Groundbreaking near Steuben Street. Director of Public Works Edward G. Lang (holding shovel) and Frank J. Lanahan, and advocate for the expansion of West Carson Street (holding pick), ceremoniously break ground with other officials on a project near which would connect West Carson Street to the West End Bridge, expand the street, and relocate sections of the street. According to an October 4th, 1929 article in the Pittsburgh Press, the project was "one of the most important traffic projects the city has undertaken" up to that point. The contract for the project was given to John F. Casey Co.
