Description
Onlookers gather as men clear snow near the Allegheny County Courthouse using the Barber-Green snow loader. This machine could load snow into a truck in 40-60 seconds. The first successful use of the snow loader was in Chicago in 1920. The snow loader road on tractor treads and came equipped with a scoop and a conveyor belt. After snow was plowed, it would ride up the belt to be dropped into a waiting dump truck parked below.
