Abstract
In 1986, White Consolidated Industries, including the White-Westinghouse appliances division, was acquired by Electrolux, an international appliances manufacturer which continues to produce refrigerators, washers and dryers, ranges, and air conditioners under the White-Westinghouse brand. The White-Westinghouse Manuals consist primarily of service manuals and parts diagrams for refrigerators, ranges, air conditioners, and other appliances manufactured by White-Westinghouse.

History

The Westinghouse Electric Corporation entered the home appliance market in 1917 through its acquisition of the Copeman Electric Stove Company. In 1975, White Consolidated Industries acquired the Westinghouse appliances division. White Consolidated Industries was subsequently acquired by Electrolux, an international appliances manufacturer, in 1986. Today, White-Westinghouse appliances are manufactured by Electrolux, under license from Westinghouse trademark owner CBS Corporation.

Scope and Content Notes

The White-Westinghouse Manuals contain product data sheets, service bulletins, training information, illustrated product sheets, and technical service manuals for appliances manufactured through White-Westinghouse, including: refrigerators, washers and dryers, ranges, and air conditioners. The White-Westinghouse Manuals has been arranged into two series: Series I. Product/Service Data Sheets and Series II. Technical Manuals.

Series I. Product/Service Data Sheets (boxes 1-7)

Boxes 1-4 contain product data sheets, addendum to these sheets, and interspersed technical product information. These are parts-diagrams with exploded views and service instructions for the following appliances:

Box 1: Refrigerators and ranges (oven and stove units).

Box 2: Refrigerators, dehumidifiers, microwaves, and garbage disposals.

Box 3: Dishwashers, laundry washers and dryers.

Box 4: Air conditioners.

Box 5 contains individually foldered service bulletins from the 1960s through the 1980s.

Boxes 6 and 7 contain illustrated product information sheets, training information programs, as well as service data sheets, indicating updated parts and installation techniques. These materials are held in binders.

There are 4 boxes of manuals and product data sheets that retain the organization and folder received upon donation. They cover the above-mentioned appliances, as well as commercial services and commercial parts information.

Box 8: Electric and gas ranges and microwave ovens.

Box 9: Laundry dryers and commercial services.

Box 10: Refrigerators, freezers, and commercial parts.

Box 11: Commercial parts and laundry washing machines.

Series II. Technical Manuals (boxes 12-28)

18 boxes in series II contain technical service manuals, along with additional product data sheets, addendums, and related materials. These materials are all held in binders and contain exploded diagrams of parts and assembly steps, as well as instructions on appliance repair.

Boxes 12-14: Air conditioners.

Box 15: Air conditioners and ranges.

Boxes 16-18: Ranges.

Box 19: Microwave ovens.

Boxes 20-23: Laundry washers and dryers.

Boxes 24-27: Refrigerators.

Box 28: Dishwashers, water coolers and heaters, dehumidifiers.

Arrangement

The White-Westinghouse Manuals consist of 28 boxes arranged into the following two series:
