Description
The WQED Building, located at 4802 Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, houses the television and radio studios of one of the finest public broadcasting stations in the United States. The structure was designed by Paul Schweikher & Associates in the late 1960s. This building was one of the half-dozen designed by Schweikher while he resided in Pittsburgh during the 1960s. WQED was the first Community sponsored educational television station in the nation and produced such well-known programs as “Children’s Corner” and “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”
