Description
View of Franklin Street from intersection of Main Street. The left side of the photograph shows a series of buildings erected on the then-public square, which was cleared in 1879 to make way for the current Central Park, including the Market House, the City Jail (known as "the Stone Jug,"), and a log cabin belonging to John Buckwalter, the foreman of Johnstown's first iron forge.
