The James Billups photographs contain 135 images depicting Billup family members, as well as other unidentified individuals and groups. These primarily consist of prints and cabinet cards; however there are several tin types and one glass plate. There are images of his brother, Thomas Billups, as well as men identified as Jess, Fred, and Joe Billups. Eva Billups, the daughter of James Billups, and her husband Wallace Downs Sr. are both featured. Roughly 45 images are unidentified, James Billups photographs, 1880-1910, PSS 0046, Detre Library and Archives, Senator John Heinz History Center, Cataloging of this collection was funded by a Basic Processing grant from NHPRC., Jannie Nedley Gift 2011 2011.0296, James Billups Sr., an English immigrant, operated a photography studio in Jeannette, Pa., during the latter half of the nineteenth century. His studio was located at 217 & 219 Third Street; however he conducted business throughout Westmoreland County, Pa. His daughter, Eva Billups, was a nurse and baker during the Great Depression, and was married to Wallace Downs Sr., Gift of Jannie Nedley., Processed PSS 0046 03/2012 A.
