Description
The Catherine Baker Knoll papers and photographs contain records created while she (CBK) held office as the Pennsylvania state treasurer and as lieutenant governor. There are also family reunion materials and Agnes May (her aunt) estate papers. Her public office materials include program and initiative reports, memorandum and correspondence from the office of the lieutenant governor, campaign contribution and finance reports, budget and commission reports from the state treasurer office, and transcripts of speeches she gave. A variety of images depict her at government functions and community events. Film footage, primarily from her time as lieutenant governor depicts her at inaugurations, public events, and delivering speeches. There are scrapbook materials which document her career, family reunion booklets, and May family papers. Several oversized materials consist of a large portrait of her as lieutenant governor, a smaller photograph of her with a unidentified clergyman, several state treasurer campaign signs, and a May family photograph album. The Catherine Baker Knoll papers and photographs are housed in 10 boxes and have been separated into three groups: I. Public Office; II. Media; III. She was born in McKees Rocks, Pa., and attended Duquesne University. She married Charles A. Knoll Sr. in 1952, and the two had five children. In 2008, Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer, and passed away the same year.., Gift of Mina Baker Knoll., Processed MSS 0766 01412 A.
