- Harold V. Cohen was a Jewish drama and movie critic and columnist for Pittsburgh's Post-Gazette newspaper for forty years from 1929-1969, when he suddenly passed away. Throughout his career, Cohen collected photographs of himself with local and Hollywood celebrities. Later in his life Cohen also documented vacations with his wife, Stephanie Diamond Cohen, and his daughter, Barbara Cohen.

Scope and Content Notes
The photographic collection of Harold V. Cohen contains images encompassing his life and career from early childhood until his death in 1969. The first box contains photographs of Cohen, his wife Stephanie Diamond, and Kasper Monahan with both local and Hollywood celebrities from the early 1930s through the 1960s. The folders are arranged in alphabetical order. For group photographs, an index has been created to locate a specific individual identified in a photograph. A small sampling of some of the notable stars include Ingrid Bergman, Jimmy Stewart, Jane Russell, James Cagney, Grace Kelly, Lucille Ball, Mickey Rooney, Bing Crosby, Doris Day, Clark Gable, Harry S Truman, Ed Sullivan, Gene Kelly, and Groucho Marx.
The second archival box contains photographs of Cohen as an infant and student, ranging from elementary school through his graduation from the Pennsylvania State University. Some of the later photographs also include his wife and daughter. Many of the school photographs consist of class pictures. There are also many glamour shots of Cohen throughout his life. The photographs from his collegiate years are photocopies from and oversize scrapbook which has been labeled and described as MSR#334. Other photograph included in the collection consist of Cohen's with his wife, Stephanie Diamond Cohen, and his daughter Barbara Cohen.
Arrangement
The photographic collection of Harold V. Cohen consists of two archival boxes. The first box contains photographs of Cohen with local and Hollywood celebrities. The folders are arranged in alphabetical order by each celebrity's last name. The second archival box containing photographs throughout the span of Cohen's life is also arranged alphabetically.
