Description
Salk Hall houses the School of Pharmacy and the School of Dental Medicine. The building was named after Dr. Jonas Salk. While on the faculty, Salk created the first effective polio vaccine. The building, which was constructed in 1941, was initially known as the Municipal Hospital, until the University of Pittsburgh bought it in October 1957 and changed the name to Salk Hall.
