  • Rachel Carson (back row, second from right) is here pictured as part of the 1928 Championship Hockey Team. At this time, PCW offered no intercollegiate sports, only intramurals, and the Junior class, of which Carson was a member, defeated the Sophomore and Senior classes in 1928 to clinch the field hockey title. The best players from the class matches went on to play each other as part of the Honorary Hockey Team. Carson was goalkeeper for the "Navy" team in this final match, defeating "Army."
