  • Illumination Night was traditionally held during Senior Week on the Saturday prior to Commencement. As the name suggests, the campus was brightly lit for this occasion, which brought together students, faculty, parents, and guests on Mellon Lawn for a night of festivities. Highlights of the evening included the rose chain (pictured) and a dance in honor of the senior class. In 1955, poor weather forced Illumination Night and the rose chain indoors to Woodland Hall.
