Description
Many physical changes took place on the campus of the Pennsylvania College for Women in the early 1950s. The original Dilworth Hall, Berry Hall, and the old gymnasium and music hall were all demolished to make room for new buildings. This photograph shows the laying of the cornerstone for Braun Hall, which happened some time in 1953 while a portion of Berry Hall (the first building of the College) was still being used for administrative offices. The new Braun Hall would provide modern offices for the administration and student organizations. In an effort to preserve some of the old campus, the class of 1903 had the pieces of the Berry Hall stairway reworked into lecterns and gavels for the new campus.
