Description
Dilworth Hall was completed in 1889 to serve as a Preparatory School for girls considering further education at the Pennsylvania Female College. It was built with money from the will of Mr. Joseph Dilworth, who was a businessman in wholesale groceries, iron manufacturing, and railroads. Mr. Joseph Dilworth was also one of the members of the first Board of Trustees of the College. His son Lawrence was also a member of the Board. Dilworth Hall was a three story red, pressed brick building. It contained an assembly hall, laboratories, an art studio, and dormitory rooms. It was demolished in 1952 to make room for a the new Braun, Falk, and Coolidge Halls.
