Description
Dr. Jerome Holland speaks at opening convocation with an address titled "Options Along the Pathway of Community Involvement." Appointed by President Jimmy Carter in 1979, Holland was the first African American chairman of the American Red Cross. He was the former president of both Delaware State College and the Hampton Institute and the author of numerous books on African American educational attainment and residency patterns. From 1970-1972, Holland served as the United States ambassador to Sweden.
