Description
Elected Mayor of Pittsburgh in 1977, Richard Caliguiri (foreground, pushing trash can) promoted programs for urban renewal and improvement including the Pride in Pittsburgh (PIP), in association with the Golden Triangle Association (GTA), clean-up campaign for downtown Pittsburgh. Also pictured in this photograph sweeping Fifth Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh are a group of business executives and public officials including Jacques Kahn (GTA), David Berholz (Allegheny Conference for Community Development), James A. Knight (Alcoa), and James Holding (Bell Telephone Company).
