Description
Caption on the back of the photograph reads, “Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Station located in downtown Pittsburgh at Smithfield and Water Streets. Behind the main building are train sheds.” The Baltimore & Ohio Station, completed in 1887, was designed by Philadelphia-based Frank Furness. The station was demolished in the 1950s to make way for construction of the Parkway East. A new small passenger station was built in 1955 at the foot of Grant Street.
