Description
Caption on the back of the photograph reads, “Jones & Laughlin (before smoke control). W. P. Snyder, Jr. tugboat in the right background.” The tugboat, "Warren Elsey," was built in 1919 for the Vesta Coal Company at the Dravo marine ways in the back channel of Neville Island near Pittsburgh. Both the "Elsey" and the tugboat, "W. P. Snyder," are examples of stern wheel tugboats.
