Description
Ammon Recreation Center, located at 2217 Bedford Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood, was originally the site of the Ammon ballpark. It was the home of some of the great Negro League teams from Pittsburgh. Today, there is a state-sponsored plaque that recognizes the historical significance of the ballpark site. Famed Negro League slugger Josh Gibson is also mentioned on the plaque.
