Description
The corner of North Charles and Farris Streets in the North Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Charles Street is located in the North Side section known as the Charles Street Valley, an area between the Uniondale Cemetery and the wooded hillsides leading to Perry Hilltop. Josh Gibson (1911- 1947), who played as the catcher for the Homestead Grays in the 1930s and who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972, lived in this neighborhood.
