Description
Downtown Pittsburgh Interchange showing multiple approach and exit ramps along with the Boulevard of the Allies (right center) and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (left near the banks of the Monongahela River). Starting from the left and spanning the Monongahela River are the 10th Street Bridge, Liberty Bridge, Monongahela River or Panhandle Bridge, Smithfield Bridge, Forth Pitt Bridge, and the Point Bridge. The entire 27-mile Penn-Lincoln Parkway (Interstate 376), constructed under the Federal Highway Act of 1956, would connect Pittsburgh with the Pennsylvania Turnpike to the east and the Greater Pittsburgh Airport to the west.
