Description
In 1946 Pittsburgh began to redevelop the Point for use as an historic park and office complex, thereby setting the stage for the urban renewal of Pittsburgh known as Renaissance I. The Fort Pitt Bridge can be seen under construction in center background. The bridge was engineered by George Richardson and was completed in 1959. The photograph was taken from the now gone Manchester Bridge (far right foreground).
