Description
The Pittsburgh Hilton Hotel (left center), located in Gateway Center in downtown Pittsburgh, was designed by architect William B. Tabler. The 22-stoty, 813-room structure cost $15 million to build, equip and furnish. The hotel contains one of the world’s largest ballrooms at the time of its opening, holding 2,000 people at banquets and 2,660 at meetings. A special freight elevator large enough to carry automobiles and other large exhibits is capable of delivering items directly to the ballroom. Pittsburgh Hilton Hotel and Towers opened in 1959.
