Description
Gateway Center Plaza in downtown Pittsburgh with its new central fountain and reflecting pool is surrounded by the first of the Gateway Center buildings built by the Equitable Life Assurance Company. Trees have already been planted to provide shady lanes for strolling. In the background across Liberty Avenue is the vacant Wabash Railroad Terminal, which had been destroyed by fire in 1946. The structure would soon be razed to make way for the Four Gateway Center Building. To the left of the Wabash Terminal is McCann’s grocery store.
