Description
Construction on Hillman Library began in 1964, seven years before the demolition of Forbes Field. The major funding for its construction was provided by the Hillman Family and the Hillman Foundation ($3 million) and the General State Authority ($8 million). The library opened in 1968 and over the years has housed as many as three millions volumes. Note the Cathedral of Learning in the background.
