Description
The Fitzgerald Field House is located at the corner of Allequippa and Darragh Streets on the University of Pittsburgh campus in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood. The structure was built in 1951 and was named after Rufus H. Fitzgerald, the Chancellor of Pitt from 1944-1955. The building can accommodate up to 6,800 people and serves as the home of many of the school’s sports teams, including wrestling, volleyball, gymnastics, and indoor track and field. The basketball teams recently moved to nearby Peterson Events Center in 2002.
