Description
Temporarily used as a parking lot, this site along Penn Avenue (lower right) between 10th and 11th Streets was to become the location of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center built in 1981. By 2000 that convention center was considered too small for the needs of the convention business, and it was demolished to make way for a larger David L. Lawrence Convention Center, located partially at the same site but expanded much farther of what is shown in this photograph.
