Description
Chatham Center, located at the Northwest corner of Washington Place and Fifth Avenue, was designed by William Lescaze in 1966. Chatham Center had a 2,200-car parking garage, restaurants, cocktail lounge, a full service gasoline station, 660-seat motion picture theatre, shops, a bank, and professional offices. It cost $26 million to build. In 1981, Burt Kosar Rittelmann designed the Chatham II tower addition. Chatham Center was acquired by Prudential Insurance Company in 1975. Today, the 14-story, 402 room Pittsburgh Marriot City Center occupies part of Chatham Center.
