Description
The Mesta Machine Company plant covered over twenty acres in West Homestead, Pennsylvania. Some of the buildings that occupied the site included machine shops, forge shops, a pattern shop, an iron foundry, a steel and brass foundry, and laboratories. The Mesta Machine Company was one of the leading manufacturers of machine tool and steel mill equipment during the first half of the twentieth century. Some of their products included, gas and steam blowing engines for blast furnaces, forging presses, shears, cut and machine-molded gears, and various types of rolls used in rolling mills. In 1983 WHEMCO acquired the assets of Mesta Machine Company.
