Description
Phillips Elementary School, designed by architects Rigaumont & Steen, opened in November 1958. The school was named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a well known conservationist and industrialist; Mrs. Phillips served as a member of the Pittsburgh Board of Education for fourteen years. The school, located at 1901 Sarah Street, serves Pittsburgh’s South Side and Arlington communities.
