Description
Portrait of Henry Clifford "Doc" Carlson. An All-American end under Coach Glenn "Pop" Warner, "Doc" was a member of the Pitt Panthers varsity football team from 1914-1917. A 31-year Pitt basketball coach, Carlson was inducted into the Helms Athletic Foundation Hall of Fame in 1949, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in its inaugural class in 1959 and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in its inaugural class of 2006. Carlson earned letters in football, basketball and baseball while earning his M. D. degree at the University of Pittsburgh's Medical School.
