  • View of the flooded intersection of Smithfield and Carson Streets and the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad Terminal Station, as seen from the Smithfield Street Bridge, looking south. The flood occurred over a period of four days after heavy rains, culminating with the crest of the Ohio River at 46 feet. The 1936 flood had far reaching effects, causing some $250 million in damages and an estimated 108 fatalities.
