  • A view of Wylie Avenue, between Tunnel Street and Sixth Avenue, in the Hump District. Businesses on the street include McLaughlin's Bar and W. and B. Cohen's clothing store. Two street signs are visible; the first reads "Danger, Run Slow, 12 Mi. per Hour" and the second sign warns "Offenders Arrested for Spitting upon Sidewalks & Throwing Paper or Rubbish Upon Highways." The "hump" cut took place in the area of Downtown known as Grant's Hill. The project began with planning in 1909 and ended with the final cut in 1913. It changed the gradient of Grant Street, Diamond Street, and Oliver, Fifth, Sixth, Webster and Wylie Avenues.
