Description
Flow chart demonstrating the glass manufacturing methodology in the Pennvernon Process used by the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. As is depicted, molten glass is extracted from the tank using a drawing kiln and draw bar. Once drawn, the glass is transported upward by a vertical drawing machine. Once cut, the sheets of glass are then transported throughout the plant via a monorail and elevators to either the re-annealing lehr or the cutting and packing area before being shipped out. PPG created the Pennvernon Process in 1928.
