  • Friends of Margaret [1849-1912] and Eleanor Gilfillan [1862-1937]. Bethel Presbyterian Church was an early church in Western Pennsylvania. The Rev. John McMillan, D.D. was a missionary to the region in the 1770's and helped to solidify this long-established church. In the early 20th century, church events were often a chance for girls such as these to gather and socialize.
