  • Description
  • The Pitcairn Yards was like a largely self contained city, with all the necessary maintenance and support facilities included. In the Yard could be found a power plant, a plumbing and air brake shop, a lumber yard where rough lumber was cut and finished for car repairs, a cabinet shop for repairing furniture, an upholstery shop for repairing passenger car seats, and a paint shop where special private and VIP cars were finished and decorated.
