Description
Gladys Walton smiles at her photographer. She served as a judge for the 1926 Miss Pittsburgh Beauty Pageant. Born in Boston in 1903, Gladys Walton was a silent movie star. Gladys had a contract with Universal, which did not get renewed in 1923 due to her relationship with Al Capone. Universal claimed that their affair violated the "morals clause" of the contract. Al Capone came to her dressing room door while she was making the film The Untameable. He had wanted to meet her since he saw her in the film Pink Tights, which she starred in at the age of 17. When he showed up at her door, she was 19 and he was 23. Their relationship lasted for ten years. Her son, John Walton, wrote a book, Gladys and Capone: The Untold Story, if anyone would like to learn more about this drama of the silver screen. Gladys died in 1993, at the age of 90.
