Description
View looking from the Napoleon Street Bridge toward the washed out Franklin Street Bridge following the flood of 1936. The flood, which resulted from a combination of heavy rain and melting snow, saw waters rise to 14 feet in some areas. The flood killed two dozen people, destroyed seventy-seven buildings, and severely damaged 3,000 more. The city incurred roughly $41 million in property damages.
