This digital collection contains materials primarily from the Curtis Theatre Collection along with a handful of materials from the Darlington Memorial Library Collection and University Archives. The materials include theatre programs, photographs, posters, advertising, publications, and other archival material related to the performing arts in the City and at the University of Pittsburgh.
What's in the entire collection?
The Curtis Theatre Collection documents the history of the performing arts in western Pennsylvania. The collection contains books, journals, programs, scrapbooks, photographs, posters, and other performing arts ephemera dating back to the 1850s. The Curtis Collection is also the home of the records of a number of local performing arts organizations including the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, the Pittsburgh Playhouse, the City Theatre, the Kuntu Repertory Theatre, and the University of Pittsburgh Theatre Arts Department, among others.
