About the First Congregational Church
The First Congregational Church, Etna, Pa., was founded by German and Swiss descendants on the corner of Locust and Walnut Streets in Centerville (today Etna), in 1849. Originally known as the German United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Centerville, it has gone through several name changes becoming the Independent German United Evangelical Church of Etna in 1852, the United Evangelical Protestant Church in 1919, and First Congregational Church in 1929.
