Description
Participants and a staff member of Operation Better Block (pictured here) take part in a street beautification program. Operation Better Block, Inc. was created in 1970 as a subsidiary of the Better Block Development Corporation. The organization is headquartered in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh and its primary focus includes promoting and revitalizing the Homewood-Brushton community, developing programs that build and provide housing for lower income families, and educating the youth of the neighborhood. Operation Better Block also collaborates with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh on various projects.
