Description
Schenley High School, located at 4101 Bigelow Boulevard, opened on October 2, 1916. It was the first school built in the United States that cost over $1 million to construct. Today, the school offers programs and services that include the Centers for Advanced Studies, English as a Second Language, the Technological Studies magnet, the International Studies magnet, the International Baccalaureate Program, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater Collaborative, and the Technology Honor Society Affiliation. Schenley High School serves the Pittsburgh communities of Schenley Heights, Schenley Farms, Hill District, Oakland, Lawrenceville, and Bloomfield. The school also offers a magnet program that is open to all city residents, contingent on available space and racial balance.
