Description
Peabody High School was named in honor of Dr. Benjamin Helme Peabody, a prominent East Liberty physician. The former Margaretta Elementary School, remodeled and expanded in 1911, was an early addition to the expanding Peabody student enrollment. In 1925 the Peabody High School Annex, which included an auditorium, gymnasium, swimming pool, and choral room, was completed. In June 1975, a $12.5 million expansion project was undertaken that included a four-station gymnasium with seating for 2000, a new library, new cafeteria facilities, a six-lane swimming pool, commons area, and 24 additional classrooms.
