Description
Willie Mays, known as the 'Say Hey Kid', awarding baseball trophies to two young men at Kay's Boys Club. The owner and founder of the club, Mr. Howe, brought many positive African American role models to the club. Mays began his baseball career in the southern Negro American League with the Birmingham Black Barons in 1947. In 1950 he was asked to join The New York Giants. He played with them until 1972 when he joined the Mets. He retired in 1973 and was elected to the Baseball Hall of in 1979.
