  • Description
  • Fire fighters and policemen putting out a fire on Centre Avenue in the Lower Hill. The fire seems to be located above Hartzberg's store, with Shulman's (dairy products, etc.) on the left and Mack's Place (fruit and produce) on the right. A Pittsburgh police wagon (Chevrolet, after 1963) in the right foreground has its back door open. In the background a fire engine ladder and hose are extended to the top floor, where smoke is escaping from a window. On the left is a man wearing a dark jacket, a dark hat, dark pants, and a white shirt walking towards the photographer.
